The Pimientos du Padrone that Jim references are like a small ancho chile, suateed in very hot olive oil, just enough to make the skin brown and bubble, sprinkled with sea salt and eaten whole. They are also know by the nickname "Spanish Roulette" 'cause mostly they are mild, but every now and then you get a real hot one. They are available over here--a company called Tienda.com has them from June or so forward.
