I have surrendered, for the day.

~1330

I asked a pharmacist for some help.  I mis-steped the other day and immediately felt it in my back.  NSAIDs were not cutting it.  It's going to take a massage or two when I get home.

Muscle relaxants should help.  I hope.

And, I am definitely forcing myself to rest. ~5k steps so far (not a reliable count) but only 12 zone minutes. Going slow and improved cardio combined.

Breakfast (from my favorite ladies at Mercado Central, why go elsewhere?)  Roast pork, potato, and mote.  YUMMY.  And a guanabanana (no, I have no idea what it is) "shake" (Batido).  Happy, happy, happy!

This stuff is so damn good.  I wanted 'fried' pork but it was not in stock so I went with what I know.  "Fried" is actually braised first and then seared in its own fat.  I know it from Bolivia and love it.

Really, pork rules.  It just rules the proteins completely.  Sorry, cattlemen (I do have friends in the dairy business; milk is the bomb for protein drinks.)

Then a short Troleybus to Parque El Ejido (The Commons) to attempt to simply watch people.  Old guys playing something like bocce was entertaining for a while.  (See previous post.)  Best I can figure it's full contact lawn 'bowling' not a proximity game.  ("Lawn Bowling" is a specific, English, game.  Very different from Bocce.) If you hit another player's pelota, you take it off the field (and shoot again.)  Apparently the ball must travel one shoe length; there is no yelling about shoe sizes tho. Last man standing wins.

Cyclists EVERYWHERE today.  Sunday is a designated cycling day with street closures.  Very few road bikes.  Lots of crappy bikes.  Smiles on all the bikes.

A Troley back.

I did not ask for the senior fare.  I'm about to turn 58!  (A week from Monday.)

A crepe cures all (forgot to decline the chocolate, perhaps a sign of age?)
Then I went to the 16th C., of course.  It's a great plaza even if surrounded by the equivalent of taffy and fudge "shoppes."  Lots of folks out for the afternoon.

Ahh, the relaxant is kicking in.  Nap time.  More later.

I am done with these fucking nose monkeys.  They're damn apes.  I need some humidity.  I'll regret saying that when I land in Miami, I know....

Dinner run.  Had to have Fritada.

Fritada, "choclo" (giant corn on the cob), cheese, deep fried plantain, boiled 'taters, Inka Kola.

I think there's a lesson here.  Things that are cooked early in the day and sold until 'sold out' should be targeted for consumption within an hour of the store opening.  Not an hour before closing.  Too dry and stringy.  I'll try again tomorrow

Adelante.  Somos Vecinos*

* Explanation to follow.  It may be a full post.  A wonderful story that encapsulate what I hope to discover.
