Oh, My Guts.
There is a world of difference between Travellers' Diarrhea and Food Poisoning.
The former is is typically just a matter a new or novel exposure to local, generally harmless germs. The locals don't get it - ther bodies are old friendNot contagious. Just new to your biome. TD is not a wicked contagion. It's a new visitor to your guts. I got in West Germany (there were 2 back then) in '80 and '84. I got it in Mexico, Bolivia, and a host of other places in the '90s. Take an Immodium or two and you'll be good inside of 36 hours. Got it bad, take 5 days of Cipro. Inconvenient and uncomfortable.
Food poisoning is a whole nother monster. It's brutally unpleasant. It sucks badly. I have never had it anyway from home. Not anywhere outside the US. I mean while I was living at my domicile. I've had it in Arroyo Grande, NY, and a few other places. Never outside the US.
Until now.
Saturday night my guts were unsettled. And eventually empty (I had malatinga). But I slept fine. (and until about 1100 - I was up a lot.)And had no worries.
Yesterday I woke up lethargic but not feeling poorly. I wasn't hungry but peckish. So I went to have a safe and tasty favorite - tempura fried cauliflower. It was tasty but my enthusiasm was waning. I'd be fine and manage to stay awake to watch F1 from the UK later in the evening.
In the span of (1^2 +2^2)^(1/2= (3)^(1/2) =1.732 blocks as the the hornbill flies, I fell apart. In 3 blocks of walking my body flipped a switch. Body aches: soles, ankles, knees, hips, wrists, eilbows, and anything touching my spine/ Excruciating. Pain levels as high as breaking my clavicle, all over my body.
Then came the chills. I turned off all the A/Cs and let the temp rise to 30C. I lay on the couch unable to watch TV. I had on compression tights and a wool LS tee, I had 2 duvets on me.. Stricken with vertigo and incoherent thoughts. Eventually it turned to a dry fever. I turned of the TV,step the bedroom to 16C (my sleep temp), took an Alleve, and realized I don't have a will. So I spent 4 hours in/out of sleep/consciousness while wondering who would get my paltry sum of funds.
Oh, the cauliflower decided to weigh in too. No nausea at all. Just pain, fever/chill, and glad I have a bum gun. My feet got bitterly cold because the A/C blows directly on them. So, I put the 2nd duvet on the bottom half of the bed. At 1100 I noticed some improvement. At 1400 I realized I was going to be fine. The aches slunk away little by little.
What a miserable day. I'll try to return to writing tomorrow.
It was either food poisoning or I'm allergic to Sichuan Peppercorns. Dr. Occam has me believing it aint the peppercorns.
God, that sucked.
The mending continues. Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow.
